THE DEATH OF PRINT JOURNALISM, PART 31,255

The Unfortunate Souls on the Cover and Contents Page of Our Sorry Rag

TDE/Aftermath/Interscope’s Kendrick Lamar graced the cover of our most recent print edition. The hip-hop firebrand topped our most recent Sales Plus Streaming and Album Sales charts with his acclaimed set To Pimp a Butterfly, and looks set for another #1 this week. After appearing on iTunes in preorder with virtually no preamble, the soul-searching set blew up on the socials and has remained at or near #1 on the download dispensary’s chart ever since—while smashing streaming records on Spotify. Still, we think appearing on the cover of our moth-eaten rag is probably a kind of pimping he doesn’t need.

iHeartMedia programming gunslinger Tom Poleman, meanwhile, is our Contents Page VIP. Poleman and team are stoked following the second annual, star-studded iHeartRadio Music Awards, which aired last night on NBC. Given iHeart's dominance at radio and enormous online presence, it's hardly surprising that Poleman and crew are becoming a huge TV presence as well. Still, this stale rerun of a HITS Contents shout-out will likely have him reaching for the clicker.
