YOUR WEEKEND
BOX OFFICE

Universal's steamy thriller The Boy Next Door, starring Jennifer Lopez ("Breathless, uninspired January junk," raves the L.A. Times) serves as the only debut in this week's Top 5 list of the highest-grossing domestic films. Meanwhile, Warner Bros.' American Sniper continues its reign at #1 with another 64m in its fifth week. FYI, that's more than the rest of the Top 5's earnings combined, but no biggie.

1. American Sniper (Warner Bros.) $64m 3,705/$17,372 avg. (week 5)
2. The Boy Next Door (Universal) $15m 2,602/$5,765 avg. (debut)
3. Paddington (Weinstein) $12m 3,355/$3,693 avg. (week 2)
4. The Wedding Ringer (Sony/Columbia) $11.6m 3,003/$3,863 avg. (week 2)
5. Taken 3 (Fox) $7.6m 2,909/$2,613 avg. (week 3)

Just outside the Top 5, Buena Vista's animated musical comedy, Strange Magic (based on Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream) debuts at #7 with $5.5m, while Lionsgate's poorly reviewed farce Mortdecai, starring Johnny Depp, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ewan McGregor and Olivia Munn, debuts at #9 with $4m.
