“PHANTOM” SEQUEL: After running the same story every other major news outlet (and us too) ran yesterday about the FTC and Ticketmaster resolving an incident involving the sale of nonexistent tickets to a show last May, the L.A. Times this morning advanced the story under the more dramatic headline, “Ticketmaster accused of selling 'phantom' Springsteen tickets.” In it, media reporter Dawn Chmielewski quoted from a statement issued yesterday by the FTC, including Chairman Jon Leibowitz’s assertion that "Buying tickets should not be a game of chance." Live Nation declined her requests for an interview but issued a statement saying it appreciated "the FTC's diligence in closely investigating this matter." (2/19a)
