PLANS & ANIMALS: Charles Allen's appointment, combined with the fact that EMI has no plans to name a new CEO, led one source to speculate that he’s on hand to make sure the label "stays on the rails" until a deal with WMG can be completed. These sources told Lauria that Leoni-Sceti's plan lacked the support of co-COOs Ron Werre and David Kassler, and N.A. CFO Colin Finkelstein. One source noted that Werre and Finkelstein are currently at EMI's London headquarters working on their own plan. "Those two guys own the world, and Elio's plan involved a lot of cost-cutting at their divisions," said the source. (3/11a)
