EVERYBODY’S IN SHOWBIZ: Nancy Goldwin, our roving SXSW shutterbug, was clearly inspired by her Austin experience. It’s reaffirming to see a vet like her still getting excited by new music. Here’s another look at her visuals and commentary: “I took a job in a record store (you remember those, right?) 26 years ago and immediately felt at home. Part of the reason I am ‘switching gears’ is to get back to the music—putting aside the spreadsheet and picking up my camera. Thursday night I saw Ray Davies at La Zona Rosa. I caught the tail end of The 88, who were going to come out to support Ray after he played a few acoustic numbers. Next thing I know, I was pressed against the front of the stage right in front of a chair and a microphone that were undoubtedly set for Ray. And he walked out, sat down, put on his guitar and started to sing and it hit me. I am standing directly in front of Ray Davies, a Kink, the man responsible for songs like ‘Lola,’ ‘A Well Respected Man,’ ‘Celluloid Heroes,’ ‘Where Have All the Good Times Gone’ and on and on and on. Holy crap, I am seriously the luckiest woman in the world.” Nancy managed to shoot video for the first song, and here it is. (3/26a)
