Peter Wolf, painter

PORTRAIT OF THE ARTIST AS A YOUNG MAN: Before he fronted the J. Geils Band, Bronx native Peter Wolf painted, frequenting Norman Rockwell's studio at a young age and attending the High School of Music & Arts for painting and then the Museum School of Fine Arts in Boston (where he roomed with director David Lynch). His work, influenced by American and German expressionism, can be found throughout the package of his latest solo album, Midnight Souvenirs (Verve/UMe, April 6), including the front cover. Here’s an example. (3/30a)
