iPad Weekend Sales

PADDING THOSE IPAD SALES: Apple announced it had sold more than 300k of its newest device, the iPad, by midnight Saturday night, though estimates from Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster (no relation to Herman), reported by the Digital Music News, have the figure at more than twice that after he witnessed huge lines forming at Apple retail stores over the weekend. As of 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night (4/3), 19 of 20 stores still had availability on all models. More than one million apps have been reportedly downloaded, along with 250k eBooks. Of the 3,122 available apps, according to Mobclix, 80% are paid. In early morning trading, Apple is down 25 cents to $235.75. (4/5a)
