Everybody's on Facebook

LET’S FACE REALITY, PEOPLE: The percentage of Americans age 12 and older who have a profile on one or more social networking sites (but mostly the one) has reached almost half (48%) of the population in 2010—double the 24% of two years ago, according to the new national survey conducted by Arbitron and Edison Research, The Infinite Dial 2010: Digital Platforms and the Future of Radio. While nearly eight in 10 teens (78% percent) and 18 to 24s (77%) now have personal profile pages, almost two-thirds of 25 to 34s (65%) and half of 35 to 44s (51%) have also slugged down the Kool-Aid. Not only that, but 30% of Americans age 12 and older, who have a profile on at least one social networking site, use those sites “several times a day,” compared to just 18% a year ago. Surprised? Didn’t think so. The study can be downloaded gratis at www.arbitron.com and www.edisonresearch.com. Now get back to Facebook. (4/9a)
