Goodman's Bronfman Book

BOOK IT: Plenty of buzzing in music and book circles about Fred Goodman’s upcoming book, Fortune’s Fool: Edgar Bronfman Jr., Warner Music and an Industry in Crisis, coming out July 13 on Simon & Schuster. Five years in the making, the book started out as a conventional Bronfman biography, and quickly mutated into a sequel to Goodman's acclaimed 1998 book Mansion on the Hill, which traced the business from its ‘60s beginnings to its ‘80s sell-out, focusing on David Geffen and Jon Landau. Advance word has it that Lyor Cohen is a major character in this one. But what took so long? “I kept waiting for an ending,” says Goodman. (4/21p)
