HDTV Series Fights Leukemia

ROCKING AGAINST LEUKEMIA: Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban may be wrapped up in his team’s current playoff series against the San Antonio Spurs, but his HDNet will take time out to present a new series, Ray Johnston Band: Road Diaries, premiering Sunday night (4/25) at 8 p.m. (ET). The show follows the journey of cancer survivor and former Maverick Ray Johnston and his band as they try to make it in the music business, set against the backdrop of its leader’s battle with leukemia. Some of the performances are earmarked to raise funds for the Ryan Gibson Foundation (www.trgf.com), a Dallas-based non-profit, which supports leukemia research through the U.S. The scenes include appearances by Jason Mraz and Cheap Trick, a SXSW gig and meetings in Nashville with agents in between trips to the emergency room. Check out the promo reel below for a taste. (4/23p)
