ONE HAVEN INKS WITH BMG: They're baaaaack! One Haven Music Publishing, started by music industry veterans Steve Backer and Michael Caplan, has formed a joint venture with BMG Rights Management. Backer has held several positions in the business, including 13 years at Epic Records in a variety of promotion and marketing capacities. He was also GM of Giant Records, EVP/GM at EMI Music Publishing and EVP/GM at V2 Records, with artists including Pearl Jam, Michael Jackson, Blink 182 and New Radicals. Caplan began his career working for the legendary Morris Levy, then went on to a 20-year stint as an A&R exec at Epic, signing Living Colour, Keb’ Mo’, Ginuwine and G. Love. His own Or Music label produced discoveries such as Matisyahu and Los Lonely Boys. Caplan also worked at Razor & Tie, then launched One Haven Music Records in partnership with The Orchard. (5/11p)
