OBIT: RONNIE JAMES DIO

RONNIE JAMES DIO, 67, died Sunday after a battle with stomach cancer. The pioneering metal vocalist performed with Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath (replacing the fired Ozzy Osbourne) and his own Dio. He had recently collaborated on a project with former Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice under the Heaven & Hell moniker, releasing a studio album, The Devil You Know last year. We can thank him for giving us the devil’s horns hand gesture. (5/17a)
