NARM Salutes Record Store Day

NARM CELEBRATES RECORD STORE DAY: Baker & Taylor hosted a celebration and discussion of Record Store Day at NARM today and the mood was beyond jubilant. On the heels of Nielsen's announcement that the independent sector owned more than 70% marketshare on vinyl in 2009, they have now found out that this year’s event was the single biggest vinyl sales day since sales totals started being calculated in 1993. That being said, the indies talked about the need for more specialty vinyl (and CD) product in the Urban, Metal and Country genres as well. Will a second event be scheduled for this fall? Apparently it’s not out of the question. (5/17p)
