THE RICH GET RICHER: Apple and its partners took more than 600k orders for the new iPhone 4 on Tuesday, the first day they were accepted, and it might’ve been more if AT&T hadn’t experienced major glitches from the influx of orders flooding in. According to Apple, it was the largest number of preorders for any piece of hardware the company has ever taken during a single day—“and was far higher than we anticipated, resulting in many order and approval system malfunctions.” (6/17a)
