Fantasia's TV sked her own idea

TV OR NOT TV? Even before yesterday’s release of Fantasia’s J/RCA album Back to Me, less than two weeks after her suicide attempt, the label was being accused of forcing the Season Three Idol winner to promote the release against her will. “People think we beefed up all these TV commitments,” RCA SVP Marketing Carolyn Williams explained last Friday. “Her search activity is probably at an all-time high, but these were already on the calendar,” Williams says. “There was talk of moving the album release date back, but this was Fantasia’s decision. She wanted to move forward, and we support her.” The album got off to a far better than expected start at the big-box chains immediaterly after Fantasia’s performance on ABC’s Good Morning America. Her upcoming schedule: TBSLopez Tonight (8/25), BET’s 106 & Park (9/8), the ABC morning show Live! With Regis and Kelly (9/9) and BET’s The Wendy Williams Show (9/10). (8/25a)
