Wilco to Anti-?

FREE AGENTS LOOKING INDIE? Coming out of their deal with WMG’s Nonesuch, Jeff Tweedy’s Wilco have a decision to make, and Pop & Hiss speculates that the revered band could end up on Epitaph's multi-genre imprint Anti-. This guess is predicated on the fact that the Andy Kaulkin-led Anti- will release Mavis Staples’ Tweedy-produced You Are Not Alone tomorrow, combined with his acknowledgment to reporter Todd Martens: "I like labels like Anti-," Tweedy said. "I obviously have a lot of respect for their roster, and I’ve had a good experience working on this record with Mavis. So we do have a lot of different things to weigh. We’ll see what happens." Also tomorrow, the Brett Gurewitz-founded Epitaph will release Weezer's Hurley, Weezer’s first post-Geffen album, under license to the band’s own W Records. Epitaph and Anti- are distributed by ADA.
