COLD ’N HOT: GMA’s George Stephanopoulos interviewed three Sesame Street principals this morning after parental protests resulted in the PBS show pulling a segment featuring Katy Perry in a low-cut dress (see 9/23p item). “We would never, never produce anything that we thought was inappropriate,” Executive Producer Carol-Lynn Parente asserted, explaining that the show books its celebrity guests as a strategy “to go after those younger parents who may not have grown up with Sesame Street and may not seek Sesame Street out.” Elmo, who followed, was more emotional in his statement. “Elmo loves Miss Katy,” he said. “We had a good time. So we’ll have another play date.” Finally, Grover showed off his Super Grover costume. “How do you like my new outfit, huh?” he asked. “It is not too revealing, is it?” (9/24a)
