DMN outs Doug-to-Sony

TOP SPIN: Following yesterday’s breaking news about Barry Weiss getting scooped up by Lucian Grainge, Digital Music News sources “are now pointing to a potentially huge game of musical chairs, one involving…Doug Morris, [who] appears ready to grab the reins at Sony Music.” The item further claims that Grainge and Morris are “apparently beefing…over a number of issues. That includes very ‘rough handling’ of top lieutenants like IDJ chief Antonio "LA" Reid, Universal Motown's Sylvia Rhone, and even Interscope Geffen A&M chairman Jimmy Iovine, according to sources close to the restructuring.” The final bit of provocation from writer Paul Resnikoff is that Reid may be ready to follow Morris to Sony. "What they did to Reid was completely disrespectful, and totally unprofessional," one IDJ executive told Resnikoff. (12/8a)
