SEISMIC SHIFTS: Contrary to several published reports, there is no beef between UMG’s Doug Morris and Lucian Grainge over the handling of his top executives in the new world order. In fact, at this point, almost all of Doug's people look like they will find places in the newly structured company, including L.A. Reid, one of the all-time great superstar makers, with some of the top-selling albums on his resume, is reportedly ecstatic about his new deal. L.A. may well end up in his namesake town, where he will continue to oversee the making and imaging of many of the current IDJ roster as well as other UMG artists. In addition, Reid is said to very bullish on the Barry Weiss move that would have the two working closely together on many important artists. (12/8p)
