MTV Ratings Soar

MTV RATINGS SOAR: MTV’s 16% year-over-year ratings gain (p12-34) in 2010, represents the network’s largest annual increase since 1999, and its fourth consecutive quarter of growth overall. For the final quarter of 2010, MTV’s ratings grew 24% over the same period last year with gains across all key day parts. Excluding sports, MTV nabbed all 20 of the Top 20 cable telecasts of the year (p12-34), led by the Video Music Awards, as well as eight of the Top 20 original cable series of the year, including the top two in Jersey Shore and Teen Mom. MTV2 also had its best year ever, up 4% over 2009. MTV’s online presence continued to grow as well, with more than 57 million unique visitors in November, a 200% year-over-year growth, making it the #1 destination for music. Thank you, Snooki and you, too, The Situation. (12/22p)
