MASUCH EXPLAINS END-OF-A&R STATEMENT: Queried about his prediction yesterday at MIDEM that A&R will soon be a thing of the past (see item below), BMG chief Hartwig Masuch offered this clarification in an email: "Just tried to say that a lot of (established) artists prefer fair and reliable accounting to 'A+R'-advice and driven new artists will be able to pursue a career even if the conventional system doesn`t support them."
