PEAS IN OUR TIME: Despite being universally panned—Rolling Stone’s generally kind Rob Sheffield called it “the ghastliest half-time show in sports history”—the Black Eyed PeasSuper Bowl performance inspired thousands of viewers to jump on the computer and download some tunes. In the hours beween halftime and the end of tabulating for the week, 105k iTunes track sales were transacted, accounting for more than 40% of the seven-day total, which was just north of 250k—a 52k increase over the previous week. But that’s a microscopic percentage of the 111 million Americans who watched all or part of the game. (2/9a)
