Donio puts on a happy face

DONIO FEELING 21 AGAIN: NARM President Jim Donio took a break from gearing up for the big confab in May to offer a reassuring statement to all of those who toil in the music and retail sectors. "For the first time since September 2006, we've seen back-to-back, year-over-year weekly increases in overall album sales, driven by new releases from Adele and Justin Bieber,” Jim noted. “It's especially promising that such a high rate of the sales for Adele's 21 came from full-album downloads. Exposure to great new music is bringing fans to the stores, whether online or physical retail outlets. With the strong slate of upcoming releases and Record Store Day coming up April 16, we hope that sales keep moving in this encouraging direction." That’s the spirit, coach. (3/4a)
