CARVING UP EMI: Despite spin doctoring to the contrary, observers believe any EMI Music strategic buyer, like KKR/BMG, would probably retain the publishing rights and enter into a joint venture to divvy up recorded music in certain territories with either Sony or UMG. For instance, Sony could acquire recorded music in the U.K., with UMG in the U.S., while KKR/BMG retained a portion of those rights themselves. Action to come. (4/12p)
