GOOGLE MUSIC TALKS SNAG: Major label negotiations with Google for its new music service now appear to be moving “backwards,” according to the Wall Street Journal. Earlier reports had said the product was “ready to launch,” save licensing from “at least one major label.” Complicating the negotiations is competitor Amazon, which has made it clear it would not seek licenses for its recently launched “cloud” service, but were in negotiating for an “enhanced” service that would include “consolidating multiple copies of the same song into one, cloud-stored version.” (4/18a)
