X Marks Its Spot

X MARKS ITS SPOT: Fox’s The X Factor will air at 8 p.m. on Wednesdays for 90 minutes, beginning this September. An hour-long results show will take place on Thursdays. The show features judges Simon Cowell, Antonio “L.A.” Reid, Cheryl Cole and Paula Abdul, with the winning singer receiving a $5 million recording contract from Syco/Sony Music. "We feel we have the gold standard in American Idol and X Factor," Fox Networks Group Chairman of Entertainment Peter Rice said during a conference call today, rejecting the idea that NBC's The Voice had stolen some of his shows' thunder. "Idol has been rejuvenated and in Simon Cowell we have the absolute star of the genre. We just shot the first auditions in Los Angeles and it had excitement and buzz like we have never seen before."
