Sunday Night Football kills AMAs

TACKLED FOR A LOSS: ABC’s American Music Awards drew north of 12 million viewers with a 4.3/10 rating in the 18-49 demo, flat from last year, which was the show's lowest-rated of all time. That total wasn’t even in the same ballpark, so to speak, as overnight Nielsen estimates for NBC’s Sunday Night Football matchup between the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles, which earned the night's top mark with a 7.3/17 in the demo and 17.5 million total viewers. The game turned out to be more compelling than had been anticipated, given numerous injuries to Eagles’ skill-position players like QB Michael Vick and receiver Jeremy Macklin, with the Eagles winning in an upset, 17-10.
