Weekend Box Office

YOUR WEAKEND BOX OFFICE: Summit Entertainment’s The Twilight Saga was the big winner over the Thanksgiving weekend, racking up $82.3 million from Wednesday to Sunday, with $42 million of that in the regular three-day frame, giving the vampire drama a total of $221.3 miillion, ahead of the $214.3 million grossed by the previous Eclipse over the same time period. The movie’s $10,330 per theater average was the second-highest in the Top 10. Disney's $40 million reboot of The Muppets debuted in second place with a strong $42.3 million, including $29.5 million over the regular three-day weekend. Warner Bros.’ animated 3D movie Happy Feet Two earned another $18.4 million over five days and $13.4 million over three, to finish third, with a somewhat disappointing $43.8 million after 10 days. Martin Scorsese's 3-D history of silent cinema, Hugo, rounded out the Top 5 for distributor Paramount, with $15.4 million in five days and $11.4 million over the weekend, a robust $8,888 per theater average.
