A LONG STRANGE TRIP: Talent agency ICM will package a narrative-style feature film that incorporates the music of the Grateful Dead. ICM motion picture literary agent Bruce Kaufman, who has successfully worked on numerous similar projects, including songs from the Beatles for Across the Universe, will work closely with the band and its team, including archivist David Lemieux and Mark Pinkus, GM of the group’s properties at WMG’s Rhino Entertainment. It marks the first time the Grateful Dead has allowed its music to be used in this manner. The Dead signed a unique agreement with Rhino, granting the label exclusive management of their intellectual property, including recordings, merchandise and other licensing offers. ICM represents such intellectual properties as the New York Times, New York magazine, Atari, Saks Fifth Avenue, The Atlantic, Vizio and the National Baseball Hall of Fame. (12/5p)
