TRICKY’S TREAT: Yesterday, L.A. Reid formally announced the arrival of Mark Shimmel as Epic CEO. Today, he made it official that Christopher “Tricky” Stewart is the label’s President A&R. Stewart, who’s based in L.A. and Atlanta, reports directly to Reid, who said, “Tricky has been an extremely talented and consistent hit maker for many years. I have enormous respect for him and couldn’t imagine building Epic’s roster of talent without him.” Added Stewart, “My goal has always been to help create music with artists who will be doing this until the day they die. L.A. Reid has played an important role in key moments in my career and has been a mentor to me, so I know we share in the same vision. Being in partnership with Epic Records is an amazing vehicle for me to help artists find their voice, be creative and get great music out to the world.” In his 16-year career, the writer/producer has been responsible for more than 25 million records sold. Among his hits are Justin Bieber’s “Baby,” Beyonce’s “Single Ladies,” Rihanna’s “Umbrella” and Mariah Carey's “Touch My Body” and “Obsessed.” (1/19a)
