Chesney Re-Ups at Sony

CHESNEY RE-UPS WITH SONY: Kenny Chesney has extended his worldwide recording agreement with Sony Music Nashville. As part of the agreement, Chesney’s future recordings will carry his brand-new Blue Chair Records imprint, which will be affiliated with Columbia Nashville. Said Sony Music Chairman/CEO Doug Morris: “Kenny Chesney is a tremendous superstar with a unique creative vision and we look forward to sharing continued success with him in the years ahead.” Added Sony Music Nashville Chairman/CEO Gary O: “I couldn’t be happier to say that Kenny and Sony will continue to make records together for many years to come.” Chesney’s new album, Welcome to the Fishbowl, comes out June 19. Chesney’s former BNA Records imprint will be retired, with all artists and employees absorbed into Columbia Nashville. (6/4p)
