Obama to appear live on MTV

BLOC & TACKLE: President Obama will answer questions from a presumably young audience in a live, 30-minute special to air this Friday at 2 p.m. PT on MTV. Ask Obama Live: An MTV Interview With the President is As part of MTV’s “Power of 12” election campaign, with viewers submitting their questions and concerns via MTV’s Facebook page. The Obama team knows full well that the stakes are high, with 45 million 18-to-29-year-olds eligible to vote in the election—the largest potential voting bloc in the country. Interestingly, this will mark the first time that either candidate had focused solely on young voters’ concerns on a nationally televised program, although Obama addressed the concerns of young non-voters on Nickelodeon’s Oct. 15 special Kids Pick the President; Mitt Romney declined to appear. MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway will sit down with the Prez in the White House, while Andrew Jenks will be with a group of young voters on an unspecified nearby college campus. MTV has also invited Mitt Romney to participate in a separate 30-minute special, but an agreement has yet to be officially announced. (10/24a)
