Swift's Sales Storm

SWIFT'S PERFECT STORM: The impending Frankenstorm on the East Coast apparently has had little effect on weekend music buyers as early retail reports have Taylor Swift's monster new album Red on target to hit our midweek 1.15-1.25 million mark and meeting or exceeding projections at several key accounts. In addition, Swift will set the record for largest, non-99-cent-sale-priced digital album, besting the 420k digital first week most recently set by Mumford & Sons' Babel. Only Lady Gaga's Born This Way has sold more digital albums in the first week of release, though two-thirds of its 660k+ came from Amazon's game-changing 99-cent sale. (10/29a)
