NOTHING PETTY ABOUT THIS CAUSE: After raising more than $15k for the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund at N.Y.’s Webster Hall last month, Petty Fest will come to L.A.’s El Rey Theater Nov. 14 and 15 for two shows celebrating the music of Tom Petty and the Hearbreakers, sponsored by Jamieson. Performers will include The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney, The Strokes’ Nick Valensi and Fabrizio Moretti, Sarah Silverman, members of Eagles of Death Metal, Butch Walker, Jesse Malin, Harper Simon, Nicole Atkins and Guster’s Ryan Miller, among others. Special guests at the N.Y. show included Kings of Leon’s Caleb Followill, The Strokes’ Fabrizio Moretti and Albert Hammond, Jr., Karen Elson, Cyndi Lauper, Andrew W.K., Justin Townes Earle, SNL's Fred Armisen and former tennis great John McEnroe, who all joined The Cabin Down Below Band to perform their favorite Petty songs. All funds raised from Petty Fest West will go to the Eastern Musicians Fund @SweetRelief to assist those affected by Hurricane Sandy. A special limited edition poster of the event has been created and will be available at the shows for a $20 donation. Online donations to assist hurricane victims can be made here. (11/6p)
