Yorke's Solo Atoms Set to Implode

NUCLEAR FISSION: Atoms for Peace, the new supergroup formed by Thom Yorke with bassist Flea and producer Nigel Godrich, will release their debut album, Amok, in the U.S. Feb. 26, digitally and physically, on XL Recordings. The album artwork is by longtime collaborator Stanley Donwood. The band originally formed to perform songs from Yorke’s solo album, The Eraser. “[We] discovered a really good energy doing that…and it fell into this record,” he said. The group, which also includes drummer Joey Waronker and percussionist Mauro Refosco, will “get together and play next year… We’re still figuring all that out right now,” said the moonlighting Radiohead frontman. “Atoms is a ongoing and open-ended project, where it leads I know not for certain... which is what is nice about it.” (12/4p)
