Henry's Tacos closing

VALLEY LANDMARK TO CLOSE: For more than a half century, Henry’s Tacos has been one of L.A.’s favorite fast-food eateries. But the tiny stand with its iconic sign, located in Studio City less than a mile from the HITS offices, is set to close at the end of the year, despite local outcry involving rallies, petitions and an attempt to convince local government to declare the site a Cultural Historic Landmark, which it most assuredly is. The villain appears to be the landlord, who during the last year has refused to allow Henry’s owner Janis Hood, whose family opened the stand in 1961, to sell the business to three prospective buyers who wanted to keep Henry’s going as it is. So if you want to gorge on those inimitable beef tacos, time’s a-wastin’—but be prepared to stand in line, because the pilgrims are flocking to the corner of Moorpark and Tujunga before it’s too late. This has been a public service announcement. (12/12a)
