NARM Awards Photo

WHO’S NEXT: Capitol Records' fast-rising U.K. diva Emeli Sande is presented with an RIAA gold digital single award for “Next to Me,” from her current album, Our Version of Events, at last night’s NARM Awards dinner in L.A. by org chief Jim Donio (r) and RIAA boss Cary Sherman (l). The song is exploding at U.S. radio, going Top 20 Pop and #6 at Hot AC after a half-hour appearnace on the Elvis Duran show, along with big support from VH1 and performances on Dancing with the Stars and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Sande also received a Music Biz Breakthrough Artist of the Year Award, then traded both in for special, limited edition vinyl copies of Are You Experienced? and Physical Graffiti. HITS’ own man on the scene Mark Pearson is just off camera yelling, “Cheese!” Is everyone having a good time yet? (5/10p)
