YOU CAN'T ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU WANT: Lots of chatter about a top-selling single by a major artist who has sold truckloads of albums in the past. The big singles sales and quick exit at radio have label bosses upset that the radio plan was a disaster of timing and strategy, and as a result, the record has little to no chance of being rebooted at radio. That’s bad news for the label but worse news for the artist, who has been robbed of a career smash. Both manager and artist are said to be understandably upset and are being extremely vocal about the situation. It appears that this story will not have a happy ending. (6/26a)
