Mazzy Star returns

FADE UP INTO YOU: Seasons of Your Day, the first album in 17 years from the iconic L.A. group Mazzy Star, will be INresidence’s flagship record this fall, according to the INgrooves sublabel. Principal members Hope Sandoval and Dave Roback co-wrote and co-produced the LP, which is being billed as "music for lovers, music for broken hearts." Spin has the world premiere of the new single, which bears the altogether fitting title “California”—if, like Sandoval and Roback, your California is enclosed in June gloom. Check it out here. Little-known fact: the Mazzy catalog sells more than those of moody counterparts PJ Harvey and Portishead week over week. This is an extremely influential band. (7/17a)
