Luke not going to Idol

NIX ON IDOL MIX: Despite widespread reports, Dr. Luke will not be joining American Idol's Season 13 as a judge. A Hollywood Reporter piece speculates that this was due to his ties with Sony, where the producer/writer's Kemosabe deal resides, which would create too much of a conflict for him to collaborate with UMG-affiliated Idol. An "insider" at Luke's camp is quoted as saying the gig would've taken him too far from his primary work, and that Sony Music chief Doug Morris had agreed his bowing out was best. The piece still has manager Scooter Braun in the running for the spot. (8/27a)
