Miley video

HAMMER TIME: 19.3 million views in 24 hours. We'll say that again: 19.3 million views in 24 hours. That's what RCA's Miley Cyrus has earned on VEVO for the gobsmacking video that accompanies her new single, "Wrecking Ball," which has also catapulted the song to the top of the iTunes singles chart. In the clip, which is already generating tons of controversy (and responses from the pervy to the puritanical to the puzzled), Cyrus rides naked on a wrecking ball, runs her tongue over a sledgehammer, and weeps, because she's sad. But whatever you may say about the vid, it has reclaimed the one-day viewershp crown from SYCO/Columbia's One Direction, whose "Best Song Ever" snagged 12.3m views in July, eclipsing—wait for it—Miley, the previous record-holder for the bodacious "We Can't Stop." Now sit back, relax, and prepare to understand why millions of kids around the world wish they could be a sledgehammer for just one day. (9/10p)
