Top 10 tracks

TOP 10 TRACKS: It was one of those up-and-down weeks—album sales were up 3% (and 6% over the same week last year) while track sales were down a percentage point (and -4% vs. a year ago at this point). The slight singles slippage is manifested on the big board right from the top, as Katy Perry dropped 17% from last week’s ginormous 448k, though 373k ain’t anything to sneeze at, and Eminem experienced the inevitable second-week plummet from his sizzling 363k debut week (-48%). Likewise, Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” went down in its third week—but that was before her video hit with sledgehammer impact, so she’ll be right back. Two other young stars defied the overall trend, as Lorde steamrolled all the way to #2 from #8 with an adrenaline-pumping +34%, vaulting Avicii, who went #6-3 on a +12%. To borrow Chick Hearn’s coinage, both are high-fly acts.
