Portnow re-upped

SIX MORE YEARS: Neil Portnow has been “extended” as President/CEO of the Recording Academy to 2019, following a unanimous vote of the Board. Portnow, who had two years remaining on his existing contract, is now in his second decade at the helm of the org. He became President in December 2002 and was promoted to his present post in September 2007. Chair of the Board Christine Albert showered Portnow with accolades, calling him a “dynamic leader” imbued with “creativity, compassion, humility and vision.” To which he responded, “Aw, shucks.” We love Neil, but “dynamic” is a stretch.
