Big Deal hires Gareth Smith

WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL? Gareth Smith has joined the ranks of indie pubco Big Deal Music as VP of Film & Television. Like Big Deal topper Kenny MacPherson, Gareth worked at Chrysalis Music, heading the company’s U.K. film/TV department before transitioning to VP of Sync & Marketing at BMG Chrysalis after the sale. “Having known and worked with Gareth for over a decade, we’re very excited that such a talented creative executive is joining the Big Deal family, ” said Kenny Mac. The growing roster of the pubco, which is just entering its second year of existence, comprises My Morning Jacket, Jim James, The Black Angels, St. Vincent, Birds of Tokyo, The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Brett Beavers, Ethan Johns, Missy Higgins, FIDLAR, Korey Dane, Brad Tursi and John Ryan.
