NYT: Big Machine-Republic revive Dot

DOT GETS BIG: If the name Dot Records sounds familiar, it could be because it's the name on your copy of "Wipe Out" by The Surfaris, Mort Lindsay at the Organ or Pat Boone's eponymous LP. In any case, the name is being revived as a Nashville-based joint venture between Republic and Big Machine, The New York Times reports. Dot, which is set to be run by former Warner Nashville promo exec Chris Stacey, marks the third JV label launched by Monte Lipman's UMG powerhouse and Scott Borchetta's Country outfit, following on the heels of Republic Nashville and Valory. Stand by for further details. (3/24a)
