LN-Yahoo

CHANNELING MONEY: Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino joined Yahoo! Chief Marketing Officer Kathy Savitt yesterday at NYC's Lincoln Center to announce that LN would have a streaming concert channel via the Web giant's platform (which claims a reach of some 800 million users). The Live Nation Channel, as the outlet is mysteriously named, will launch this summer with one-concert-a-day programming selected from the promoter's concert library as well as interviews and behind-the-scenes footage. "With Yahoo, we will leverage our scale to establish a media platform unlike any that exists today," said Rapino, who then cackled maniacally and rubbed his hands together. Look for corporate partnerships to bring beaucoup bucks to the table; Kellogg's is the first on board. In other Yahoo! news, the yodeling new-media player will also be commissioning two original comedy series for exclusive streaming on its Web and mobile platforms, putting it in competition with Netflix, Amazon and other recent entrants in the long-form original-content game.
