A STERN TALKING-TO: Billy Joel joined Howard Stern on Monday for a mini-concert and interview on SiriusXM’s Town Hall series. The audience of 100 saw performances by Joel and guests P!nk, Idina Menzel and Melissa Etheridge, and a candid chat during which Joel told Stern he’d once tried heroin in Amsterdam (“it scared me”), had pondered forming a “silly supergroup” with Don Henley and Sting, and that he wasn’t particularly interested in writing new material. “Elton [John] would say that to me: ‘Why don’t you make another album?’” Joel recalled. “And I used to say to him, ‘Why don’t you make less albums?’” (4/29a)
