Steve Perry makes surprise appearance

JOURNEY THROUGH THE PAST: The music biz took the last four days off, but something interesting happened on Saturday night in St. Paul when, during the second encore of an Eels show, who should appear but reclusive former Journey frontman Steve Perry, in his first performance in 19 years. Happily, concertgoer Paul Frank had the presence of mind to record the surprise appearance in HD on his Nokia Lumia 810. Here’s the clip, comprising “It’s a Motherfucker”, “Open Arms” and “Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’.” Note: Some fast-forwarding may be in order. (5/27a)
