Shep Gordon doc

MANAGER, PIONEER, SHAMAN: In a business characterized by oversized egos, the universally loved Shep Gordon has attained legendary status for the size of his heart. Gordon, who’s best known for managing Alice Cooper, is the subject of Supermensch, a feature-length documentary by Mike Myers that opened in limited release on Friday, accompanied by a clever social-media campaign. Sample tweets: “Shep Gordon makes The Most Interesting Man in the World look boring.” “Cooked for the Dalai Lama. Smoked with Willie Nelson.” “Sex, drugs, and rock & roll. And that was just Shep’s first day in L.A.” “When Shep’s computer broke, his repairman was Steve Jobs.” Both Myers (in New York) and Gordon himself (in L.A.) sat for post-show Q&As over the weekend, meaning Shep feels good enough about the film to leave his idyllic home on the beach in Maui to do a bit of promo. That’s enough for us—we can’t wait to see it. (6/9a)
