Naughty Boy for Fri AM

GETTING NAUGHTY: Whatever happened to the hotly contested Naughty Boy label deal in the U.K.? Universal U.K.'s David Joseph and SYCO's Sonny Takhar were both thought to be the leading contenders to make this deal. The producer/writer, aka Shahid Khan, had a global smash with “La La La,” co-written and sung by Sam Smith, and has a writing/production partnership with Emeli Sandé (he was Sandé’s primary collaborator on her U.K. #1 album, Our Version of Events). Khan has also worked with Rihanna, Jennifer Hudson, Tinie Tempah, Leona Lewis and chart-topping U.K. rappers Chipmunk and Wiley, among others. Capitol (which signed Smith and included “La La La” on his eagerly awaited In the Lonely Hour, which streets next week) released Naughty Boy’s guest-studded set Hotel Cabana earlier this year.
